White House Jobs: Salaries Revealed



Since 1995, the White House has been required to send a report to Congress detailing their employees’ salaries. Recently, the salaries of White House staffers under president Joe Biden have been released to the public. It’s looking to be the most expensive White House staff of all time. With 567 staff members and 22 of those people making at least $180,000 a year. It’s time to take a look at how much each major staff member makes.

Molly Groom ($185,656)


Molly Groom is a detailee at the White House and the Policy Advisor for Immigration to the president. She currently has the highest annual salary as far as general White House staffers go.

Dana Remus ($180,000)


Dana Remus is an Assistant to the President and White House Counsel. Her appointment was a result of her previous occupation as a lawyer and her experience in the field.

Kate Bedingfield ($180,000)


Kate Bedingfield is an Assistant to the President and the Director of Communications. Prior to her appointment, Bedingfield acted as deputy campaign manager for Biden’s 2020 election campaign. Additionally, she was Biden’s communications director when he was still the vice president.

Susan Rice ($180,000)


Susan Rice is an Assistant to the President and the Domestic Policy Advisor. She’s been a long-active politician, having been a member of Bill Clinton’s National Security Staff as far back as 1993.

Anita Dunn ($180,000)


Anita B. Dunn is an assistant to the president and senior advisor to the president. She left the post after August 2021, but returned in May 2022. She also served as the advisor to the Biden presidential transition.

Mike Donilon ($180,000)


Mike Donilon is an Assistant to the President and a Senior Advisor to the President. He’s an attorney and campaign consultant, having also served as the chief strategist for President Biden’s campaign.

Anthony Bernal ($180,000)


Anthony Bernal is an Assistant to the President and an Advisor to the First Lady. He has a history with Dr. Jill Biden, having been the First Lady’s director of scheduling and trip advisor during the Obama administration. Additionally, he was her chief of staff from 2017-2019.

Neera Tanden ($180,000)


Neera Tanden is a Senior Advisor to the President. She was a political consultant and and government official, having been involved in politics and the presidency since the Clinton administration.

Louisa Terrell ($180,000)


Louisa Terrell is an Assistant to the President and the Director of the Office of Legislative Affairs. As a lawyer, she had a varied career in passing legislation. She worked with Facebook, Barack Obama, Cory Booker, and Tom Wheeler.

Jonathan Finer ($180,000)


Jonathan Finer is an Assistant to the President and the Principal Deputy National Security Advisor. Prior to his appointment, he acted as the foreign and national correspondent at the Washington Post, as well as serving as a member of the Obama administration.

Brian Deese ($180,000)


Deese is the assistant to the president and the Director of the National Economic Council. He previously also served as the same position under President Barack Obama.

Elizabeth Sherwood-Randell ($180,000)


Elizabeth Sherwood-Randell is an Assistant to the President, a Homeland Security Advisor, and the Deputy National Security Advisor. Her most notable roles she previously had at the White House were as the Deputy Secretary of Energy under President Obama and serving on the National Security Council staff.

Jennifer Dillon ($180,000)


Jennifer Dillon is an Assistant to the President and the Deputy Chief of Staff. She previously served as the manager for President Biden’s political campaign.

Bruce Reed ($180,000)


Bruce Reed currently serves as the White House’s deputy chief of staff, alongside Jen O’Malley Dillon.

Ron Klain ($180,000)


Ron Klain is an Assistant to the President and the White House Chief of Staff. He previously served as the chief of staff of two vice presidents, Al Gore and Joe Biden under the Obama administration.

Jake Sullivan ($180,000)


Jake Sullivan is an Assistant to the President and a National Security Advisor. He has had a long career as an advisor, having acted as the senior policy advisor for Hillary Clinton during her presidential campaign in 2016 and her deputy chief of staff while Clinton was Secretary of State.

Anne Filipic ($180,000)


Anne Filipic is an assistant to the president. She also has the roles of Director of Management and Administration and Director of the Office of Administration.

Steven Ricchetti ($180,000)


Steven Ricchetti is an Assistant to the President and a Counselor to the President. He previously served as Biden’s Chief of Staff during the Obama administration, as well the chairman of Biden’s presidential campaign.

Gautam Raghavan ($180,000)


Raghavan replaced Christine Russell as the director of White House personnel in December 2021. His official title is Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Presidential Personnel.

Mitch Landrieu ($180,000)


Landrieu was appointed as a senior advisor for the Biden administration in November 2021. He was put in charge of implementing the Infrastructure Investment and Job Act of 2021.

Karine Jean-Pierre ($180,000)


Karine Jean-Pierre is a Deputy Assistant to the President, the Principal Deputy Press Secretary, and a Senior Advisor to the Press Secretary. She was given this appointment after a varied career as an author, campaign organizer, political commentator, and activist.

Kamala Harris ($235,100)


It isn’t particularly surprising that the vice president makes more money than all of other White House staffers (aside from one very important person). The current vice president has taken a hands-on approach. It is also worth noting that she is the first female, African American, Asian American, and biracial vice president in American history.

Joe Biden ($400,000)


Joe Biden’s salary of $400,000 is certainly the highest amount of anyone working in the White House. It’s only natural, considering that he’s the president. Although, the amount shouldn’t be too surprising, as that’s the general amount the president is supposed to make. Donald Trump had an identical annual salary while he was in office.
