When A Baby In A Lion Costume Meets A Real Big Cat, Something Incredible Happens

As if there could be anything cuter than a baby dressed like a ferocious lion, watch what happens when he interacts with a real, live lion at the zoo.

Separated by thick glass at the Atlanta Fulton County Zoo, baby Aryeh got the chance to interact with his namesake while wearing a lion costume. His name means lion in Hebrew, according to Cami Fanning, Aryeh's godmother.

Lucky for us, Fanning filmed the entire adorable meeting and posted the video online.

In the video, Aryeh stands and crawls on a wide ledge outside the lion enclosure at the zoo. After noticing the baby, a male lion begins pawing and sniffing at the glass. Baby Aryeh, meanwhile, grins and looks back at his godmother.

When Fanning and her close friend decided to take 11-month-old Aryeh to the zoo for his first godparent outing, his mom wisely packed his lion costume.

When they first arrived, it was cold outside so they didn't see any lions, Fanning wrote when she posted the video.

“We saw the rest of the animals and stopped by the lion exhibit on our way out, saw that the lions were out and put Aryeh in his costume, thinking we'd snap a picture of him with the lions in the background,” Fanning wrote.

They got more than just a few photos. The lions were “immediately interested” in the tiny cub and came up to the glass to inspect Aryeh, she wrote.

“Aryeh was completely unfazed and interacted with the lions for a few minutes,” according to Fanning. “We took some pictures and videos before moving along as the lions started getting a little worked up and we didn't want to make them too anxious.”

You can hear Fanning's shock and awe in the video as she watches Aryeh and the lion interact.

“Oh my gosh this is so unreal!” she says. “What is that, Aryeh? It's a big you!”
