The Most Valuable Engagement Rings Given To Celebrities

Every person when they get engaged feels an immense sense of joy as that diamond ring is slid onto the future bride’s finger. Of course, some people have more reason to be excited than others. Because that diamond ring is worth a lot of money. Celebrities have a habit of spending a ton of money on their future spouses’ engagement rings. Which is a little bit more embarrassing since sometimes the couple never even stays together. But, which rings are the most expensive? Here’s a list of some of those.

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez has been in a number of high-profile relationships, but her time with Ben Affleck is perhaps most well-known. After all, they were previously engaged. In 2002, Affleck proposed with a pink diamond ring that reportedly cost $1.7 million. They didn’t end up getting married bak then, but J-Lo has admitted how impressed she was with the ring, even today.

Grace Kelly

Of course, expensive engagement rings weren’t just purchased in the present. In 1955, Grace Kelly was given two from her fiancé, Prince Rainier III of Monaco. The second one, the more expensive of the two, was a 10.48-carat, emerald-cut diamond worth $4.3 million. The pair had met while Kelly was promoting one of her films and the prince proposed in less than a year.

Paris Hilton’s been engaged multiple times, but only recently tied the knot with Carter Reum. Even so, it was her former fiancé Chris Zylka that got her the most expensive ring. When they got engaged in 2018, he got her a pear-cut, giant diamond ring for $2 million. They split up a couple of months later. The one Reum gave Hilton was only $1 million.

Jackie Kennedy

The end of Jackie and John Kennedy’s marriage was marked in tragedy. But before then, their relationship was one for the ages. They were engaged in 1953, with Jackie going to pick out her own engagement ring at Van Cleef & Arpels in New York. She ended up picking one out for that cost $1 million. It wasn’t a traditional ring, consisting of diamonds and emeralds. She later even had it revamped to include marquise diamonds. As happy as she was with the ring, Jackie wasn’t much of one for showing it off.

Katie Holmes

Tom Cruise has been one of the most bankable actors in Hollywood for decades now. After a pretty bad split from Nicole Kidman, Cruise ended up marrying Katie Holmes. They had a big age gap, but he was head-over-heels. So much so that he got her a 5.5-carat oval diamond for $2 million as an engagement ring. This was just seven weeks after they had met. They’re not married anymore, but their marriage actually lasted six years.

Not only has she made her own fortune on the court, but has also managed to find a wealthy husband in the form Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. Beyonce

When Beyonce married Jay-Z in 2008, the event was so low-key that it hadn’t even been announced. Fans hadn’t even known they were engaged. After it became public knowledge though, more information became available. Including how expensive the engagement ring was. It was a 24-carat diamond that cost $5 million. That made it one of the largest and most expensive engagement rings in Hollywood history.

Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera was married to Jordan Bratman from 2005 to 2011. While things didn’t work out, Aguilera was clearly pleased when he popped the question. She showed off her engagement ring to plenty of photographers. It was a $2.5 million diamond in a vintage style. It fit Aguilera’s aesthetic perfectly.

Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor had a notable love of jewelry, almost as notable as her acting talent. And her relationship with Richard Burton was perhaps her most infamous love affair. Burton bought the Krupp diamond for Taylor in 1968 and had it set into a ring. She constantly flaunted the $1 million ring, every chance she had. Technically, Taylor and Burton had married four years prior to his purchase of the Krupp diamond. Even so, it’s still called her “engagement” ring.

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey started dating Australian businessman James Packer in 2015. And by 2016, he was already ready to pop the question. He gave her a 35-carat ring worth $10 million. Unfortunately, Packer and Carey never actually tied the knot. Which is a real shame, considering how expensive it was.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were a very strange couple to a lot of people. Yet, somehow, they made it work. At least for a time. Kim had been married twice before, so Kanye made sure to make a big impression with the ring. That being a 15-carat, $4 million, oval diamond. The two aren’t together anymore, and on top of that, Kim lost the ring when was robbed by armed men in Paris in 2016.

Catherine Zeta-Jones

People were skeptical of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas’ relationship when they first got together. They had a huge age gap and worked in the entertainment business. Her vintage-style ring was a 10-carat diamond worth $1 million.

Anna Kournikova

Anna Kournikova met her partner, Enrique Iglesias, after starring in the music video for his song “Escape”. Since then, they became an item and have had three children together. However, they’ve also stated that marriage “isn’t important” to them. Even so, Anna has been seen with a canary yellow diamond ring on her finger multiple times. And some outlets say that the ring is worth $7.4 million. Whether they’re engaged, married, or simply love diamonds isn’t fully clear, but it’s still an impressive stone.

Melania Trump

Melania wasn’t the first person that Donald Trump had married, but she was the one that got to be the First Lady. American media loved talking about her when she first started dating Donald. And when they got engaged, he sealed the deal with a $2.3 million, 15-carat, emerald cut ring. Their wedding was in 2005 and turned out to be even more expensive than the ring.

Blake Lively

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have a solid relationship. It’s funny to think that they met on the set of Green Lantern in 2011, a movie that was so critically panned that Reynolds still makes fun of his decision to be in it. They got married some time after their meeting with not much fanfare. Of course, the ring was a different story. It was $2.5 million and was designed by Larraine Schwartz, a close friend of Lively’s.

Kate Upton

When she got engaged to Justin Verlander in 2016, Kate Upton was pretty open about the ring he had bought her. It was $1.5 million and was designed by the jewelry Anita Ko. She worked with Verlander on its design, calling it a “the most perfect one-of-a-kind ring that is rare of exceptional quality…” They officially married in 2017 at a small ceremony in Italy.

Victoria Beckham

David Beckham asked Victoria to marry her in 1998. They’ve had some ups and downs over the years, as all couples do, but have managed to stay together. The 14 engagement rings she’s received probably helped. Her most notable one is worth $1.2 million, a square-cut diamond. Of course, with a husband worth $318 million he can certainly afford to pamper her.

Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff received a pretty expensive ring when she got engaged to NHL star Mike Comrie in 2010. He got her a 14-carat, princess-cut ring for $1 million. It was far from the first big gift he had gotten her though, having gotten her a car as well. While she said she didn’t want to rush into marrying him, she was still excited about the ring. While they were married in 2010, they split up in 2016.

Ciara

Ciara became engaged to famous NFL player Russell Wilson in 2015. They even had a fairy-tale-like wedding in England at Peckforton Castle. Of course, her ring was also big and expensive. 16 carts, unusually shaped, but flanked by pear and trapezoid-shaped diamonds. The ring, itself, also cost $2 million.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are no longer together, but it isn’t hard to forget their long and complicated relationship. They got together in 2005, with Pitt asking Jolie to marry him seven years later. And in 2014, they got married in a secret ceremony in Correns, France. Pitt actually designed his fiancé’s engagement ring, himself. The price isn’t known yet, but it cost between half a million to one million dollars.

Gabrielle Union

The ring Dwayne Wade proposed to Gabrielle Union with was only 8.5 carats, which is a bit small compared to the others on this list. Even so, the cushion-cut diamond is still worth $1 million. The diamond was actually difficult to find because of its size. The band has accompanying accent diamonds as well. Wade reportedly went through a painstaking search to find the perfect diamond.

Cardi B

Cardi B got a pretty big present for her 27th birthday. That being a 100-carat ring from her husband, Offset, worth $4 million. A year later, she got another, eight-carat ring, referred to as her engagement ring. It was surrounded by a halo of pink diamonds and another of white diamonds. It paired really well with the ring she got for her birthday as well.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry hasn’t been cagey about how much she loves her ring from her fiancé, Orlando Bloom. It’s a flower-shaped ring, composed of eight clear-cut white diamonds and a four-carat pink diamond in the center. It’s one of the more unique rings on this list, so of course it’s one of the more expensive as well at $5 million.

Caroline Wozniacki

Caroline Wozniacki didn’t wear her engagement ring while she was winning the Australian Open, but made sure to put it back on when she received her trophy. Her now-husband, NBA player David Lee, bought the ring from Hamra Diamonds for $1 million in 2017. The ring was 8.88 carats, as eight was Caroline’s favorite number.

Leighton Meester

Adamo Brody’s engagement ring to Leighton Meester was a ten-carat diamond, bezel-set in rose gold, and with twenty-eight small side stones. Of course, a more complicated ring boasted a price tag of $1 million. The pair were already engaged after dating for less than a year. However, despite getting engaged in 2013, they’re still together today.
