If you hate going to the dentist, it's probably because you fear the needles needed to numb your mouth when a you have a procedure done. Many are in the same boat with you, including myself.
Luckily, a new way to administer anesthetic may be on the market soon. The process is called iontophoresis, and this particular method is being developed by Scientists at the University of São Paulo in Brazil.
According to Science Daily, this new way will allow dentists and doctors to administer oral medication without the use of needles.
Scientists have tested this practice on pigs. Through a small electric current, they've been able to get the anesthetic to spread and be absorbed more effectively than how it's done today.
"Needle-free administration could save costs, improve patient compliance, facilitate application and decrease the risks of intoxication and contamination," Renata Fonseca Vianna Lopez, a co-author of the study, explained in a statement.
It isn't available on the market yet ? but when it is, would you try it?
