This Photo Of A Dog Snuggling His Owner Will Make You Want To Adopt A Pet

If this doesn't make you want to adopt a dog, we don't know what will!

There is an inexplicable bond between a pet owner and their pet, but for Kayla Filoon and Russ the dog, the bond was almost immediate. In fact, you could even call it love at first sight.

According to Today, Filoon is a college student who regularly volunteers at an animal shelter in Philly. She had just come inside from walking dogs, and there sat Russ, quiet and staring at her. He was a 4-year-old pit bull, longing for a new home.

The poor little guy wasn’t in tip-top condition when he first arrived to the shelter. “He came in as a stray, and he was really beat up,” Filoon told The Dodo. “He was missing fur on his tail and ears. He was also terribly skinny. They told me he was about 40 pounds when he came into the shelter.”

But behind the beat-up exterior was the sweetest dog you could imagine, and it wasn’t long before Filoon had realized that and had fallen completely in love.

Russ must have known it, too. “He was very still, and watching, as if he knew I was going to be his mommy one day,” Filoon told TODAY in an email. He was an intuitive little guy, indeed.

The next day, Filoon came back and took Russ out for a little quality time. By the end of that day, she had adopted Russ. According to Today, it’s been a few weeks since the adoption, but Russ just won’t stop snuggling Filoon.

A photo was snapped of the two of them picturing Filoon sitting on the couch working on her laptop and Russ, forcing a snuggle session.

“He always has to be close to me,” she told The Dodo.

The photo was posted to Facebook and has since garnered over 61,000 likes at the time of publication.

The picture serves as a major motivation for pet adoptions, and people online seem totally on board with the idea, too. Folks are commenting things such as, “I am literally in tears. We are a rescue group that saves dogs from this shelter. They know when they are saved.”

So if that doesn’t make you want to go out and adopt a snuggle buddy to call your own, I don’t know what will! If you’re in the area, you can head to the ACCT Philly shelter where Filoon found Russ, and if not, you can visit this website to find a shelter near you.
