This Commercial Captures How It Feels To Go ‘Home’ For The Holidays
These holiday ads get us every time!
With everything going on in the world, it’s the little things that bring a smile to our faces. Holiday commercials have a way of doing just that (clever marketers!).
The Coming Home for Christmas ad for London’s Heathrow Airport follows the cutest bear couple through their journey “home” for the holidays. Now, traveling during the holidays isn’t generally a pleasant experience, but the couple does it with a smile. And with kind gestures along the way—a blanket offered mid-flight, a rare smile from the border control agent as they pass through customs—the ad is clearly a reminder to look for the positives and not just the hassles the next time you travel.
Heathrow’s commercial director Jonathan Coen told The Drum, “We love the film and hope the bears’ journey through the airport captures that excitement you feel when walking through Heathrow arrivals into the arms of your loved ones at Christmas.”
There’s no denying that surge of excitement that comes when you are reuniting with family or friends at the airport, and this ad captures the sweetness of that reunion as well.
Heathrow is the U.K.’s busiest airport, and the commercial served to kick off the 70th anniversary celebration of the international hub.
Coming Home for Christmas is a little reminder that even in the rough days, seeing the people we love can turn a frown into a smile.
Now go give someone the biggest bear hug and get into the holiday spirit.
Looking for more holiday spirit? You’d be well advised to check out this commercial featuring a man learning English for someone very special or this sweet animal-rific John Lewis (the U.K.’s version of Nordstrom) commercial benefitting a U.K.-based nature recovery nonprofit. Amazon also released a feel-good holiday ad featuring a Muslim and a Christian clergyman catching up over a cup of tea.
