You might remember Bob Ross. The artist hosted a show back in the '80s and '90s on PBS called "The Joy Of Painting."
Ross, who passed away in 1995, was known for his cheerful demeanor, Zen-like calm, and his voluminous head of hair. For those in need of a mood boost, here are some sweet and funny words of wisdom from the late master himself.
1. Master Of Your Domain
âIn painting, you have unlimited power. You have the ability to move mountains. You can bend rivers. But when I get home, the only thing I have power over is the garbage.â
2. Don't Eat The?
âThe only thing worse than yellow snow is green snow."
3. Trees Are People, Too:
âThere's nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend.â
4. On Being Lazy:
âWater's like me. It's laaazy ? Boy, it always looks for the easiest way to do thingsâ
5. In TV, A Half Hour Is A Half Hour:
"I can't go over 30 minutes, because we have a mean ol' director with no sense of humor."
6. Just How Soft Are The Trees, Bob?
"The trees are oh so soft, oh so soft I freakin' love it."
7. Maybe We'll Pass On The Nightly News Tonight:
"We want happy paintings. Happy paintings. If you want sad things, watch the news."
8. Go North, Young Man:
"Oooh, if you have never been to Alaska, go there while it is still wild. My favorite uncle asked me if I wanted to go there, Uncle Sam. He said if you don't go, you're going to jail. That is how Uncle Sam asks you."
9. Dare To Be Different!
"People might look at you a bit funny, but it's okay. Artists are allowed to be a bit different."
10. Smoosh Is A Word, You Bet:
"As my son Steve says, just 'smoosh' it in there. It's not a real word, but people seem to know what it means."
