"My mommy is the best mom on the planet," Jalen Bailey tells the Fresno Bee. At just 8 years old, he has a big dream: to buy his single mother a house. Currently living in an apartment in Fresno, California, Jalen has been baking with his mother for years.
This past July, he founded Jalen's Bakery to help accelerate his plans (look at his cute website!), and provides the opportunity for people near and afar to enjoy his cookies through online ordering.
The cookies range from $10-20 a dozen, and he offers the following flavors: oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, white & chocolate chip and classic chocolate chip. He also sells banana bread and heart-shaped cupcakes with icing.
And buying a house isn't his only goal. Jalen wants to go to college, get a dog and save some money along the way.
His mother, Sharhonda, told ABC30 that his entrepreneurial spirit runs in the family. "I've had side businesses since I was 18, so I felt that it was something he needed to learn."
Currently, his mom operates as his assistant and is happy to help support her son's dream. "He's getting a lot of requests," Jalen's mom Sharhonda said.
What a sweet kid. Order up, friends.
