Sweet Photo Shows Pink’s Brother Saluting During Her Super Bowl National Anthem Performance
It’s a huge honor to be invited to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, but the opportunity might be even more meaningful when you come from a military family.
When Pink sang the anthem before Sunday’s game, it was an undoubtedly a special moment between the pop star and her brother, Lt. Col. Jason Moore.
Leading up to the big game, Pink’s brother was excited to watch the Philadelphia Eagles take on the New England Patriots. He went so far as to sing the Eagles fight song on his flight to the game. The siblings’ hometown is in Pennsylvania, not far from Philadelphia.
And when it was time for his sister to take the field and sing the national anthem, this happened:
Pink’s husband, Carey Hart, posted the photo to his Instagram with the simple caption: “My brother in law Lieutenant Colonel Jason Moore, during the national anthem that his sister is singing, at the super bowl. #America.” The powerful image was liked more than 100,000 times in a matter of hours.
Listen to Pink’s stirring performance—given while she was battling the flu—for yourself:
According to the singer, the chance to sing the anthem on this stage is something she’d been dreaming of for a long time.
“I’ve been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song. And now, my chance has finally come,” she wrote on Instagram. And the moment was made even better considering her family was there to hear her and support her. “I will tell you, this is one of the biggest honors of my life, singing this song in front of my family, my military family, my dad and brother and step mama and family and the world.”
Trying to practice the flu away. I’ve been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song. And now, my chance has finally come. And it just so happens that this chance comes when I have two small Petri dish kids who literally cough INTO MY MOUTH and rub their snot on my cheek. You can’t write this stuff I swear! And here we are. I’ve arrived at another one of my dreams which is slowly becoming a sort of nightmare. I will tell you, this is one of the biggest honors of my life, singing this song in front of my family, my military family, my dad and brother and step mama and family and the world. And the EAGLES!?!?! I promise I will do my best, as I always do. As far as the gremlins that got me into this mess, you can cough at me for the rest of your lives. If it’s a contest, babies, you win. #spreadthelove #spreadthegerms #pleasegivememyvoiceback #ificansingimgonnakillit

After her performance, the singer got to watch the game and Justin Timberlake’s halftime show with her family.
I am beyond proud of this woman. The roller coaster that she went through this last week with getting sick and losing her voice would have broke any ordinary person. She laced up her boots, got through a 90 minute set Friday night, and fucking killed the super bowl today. Oh and sang live by the way. She is the hardest working in show business and i couldn’t be more proud of her. You fucking rule, baby @pink
